Adventure is in my soul! I was born in Toronto, Canada, but moved to Northern Ireland when I was four. My parents and I lived with my great-grandparents in a tiny red brick house perched on the hilly outskirts of Belfast. Our street was called Glendale Avenue South.
Looking back, I realize that my passion for creativity was sparked there. As a child, I learned to appreciate and care for nature with my great grandfather in his beloved garden. We explored Ireland’s lush countryside, reveled in its wild seascapes, roamed ruined castles and tiny fishing villages, and spent our evenings drinking tea by the fireside. Since then I have been passionate about adventure, nature, curiosity, and creativity.
I completed my basic education in Toronto and then a bachelor's degree in Art Education in South Carolina, where I met my husband. We made Toronto home for 10 years where I taught elementary and high school visual art. After the birth of our second daughter I decided to step back from teaching but I knew I still needed a creative outlet. So in 2017 we decided to launch Glendale Studio to focus on building my own body of artwork. It's been a challenge trying to balance parenting little ones and consistent studio time, but so rewarding! I'm learning and growing even though it's often a slow, slow process!
